The Canon 1100D (Digital Rebel T3) can be used as a webcam. Canon has released new software which allows you to connect your camera to your PC and pull a video feed direct, without the need for a capture card!
Here's what you'll need to do:
Software:
- Canon EOS Webcam Utility Software: This official software from Canon allows your computer to recognise the 1100D as a webcam.
Hardware:
- Canon 1100D camera
- A USB cable to connect the camera to your computer
Steps:
- Install the Canon EOS Webcam Utility Software: Download and install the software on your computer following the instructions on the Canon website.
- Connect the camera: Turn off your camera and computer. Connect the camera to your computer using the USB cable.
- Turn on the camera: Power on your camera.
- Computer Settings: Open your video conferencing application (Zoom, Meet, etc.) or the settings menu where you can choose your webcam. Select the Canon EOS Webcam Utility as your video source.
Additional Tips:
- Audio: The Canon EOS Webcam Utility only provides video. You will need to use your computer's built-in microphone or a separate microphone for audio during calls.
